Epilepsy Wake-Up Call: Strengthening Faith & Connections
We know that the epilepsy roller coaster is long and can test both our mental and physical strength. These past few weeks have been interesting, to say the least. From an increase in my seizures to meeting some more amazing epilepsy warriors. As I battle my journey, I felt it was a good time to introduce everything I stand for and try to live up to each day, and that’s my faith in God.
As my seizures began to increase with more severity, it became a question of “now what?” As my team is working on a definitive plan, I find myself paying more attention to things that may cause seizures. Sleep habits, the time I take my meds, and stress (which unfortunately is hard to avoid). Having more seizures was almost like a wake-up call. I was managing my seizures pretty well and was avoiding the small things that could be the causes of my seizures.
I won’t sugarcoat it, God has placed some amazing people in my life from my loving parents to fun siblings to people I’ve talked to on social media! A friend of mine and I talked for hours last week covering everything from our epilepsy journeys to fun life events. It’s those kinds of friendships that help us manage our epilepsy journey more easily.
God had a plan for me and knew what type of people needed to be involved in my journey. I can’t thank my coworkers enough for all their support and kindness on my rough days. Seizures won’t stop me from working, and my coworkers have my back. I truly appreciate them!
Yes, epilepsy can suck, but the people you meet along the way can change your life. From recent experience, never get too comfortable if you think you have epilepsy under control, things can change in minutes. Live your life to the fullest!
